Michigan awarded two federal grants to strengthen behavioral health services during COVID-19 crisis

As evidence mounts that the COVID-19 pandemic is taking an emotional toll on Michiganders, help is on the way in the form of two federal grants awarded to the MDHHS Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Administration.

MDHHS launches large-scale, volunteer contact tracing effort; Expands testing criteria to include any worker still reporting in person

MDHHS again expanded testing criteria to include all essential workers still reporting to work in person, whether they have symptoms or not, and launched a large-scale effort with more than 2,000 volunteers to expand contact tracing capacity.

Governor Whitmer signs executive order creating the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities

The task force will act in an advisory capacity to the Governor and study the causes of racial disparities in the impact of COVID-19 and recommend actions to immediately address such disparities and the historical and systemic inequities that underlie them.

MDHHS implementing strategies in long-term care facilities to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect residents and staff

MDHHS is rolling out a comprehensive strategy to combat the impact of COVID-19 in long-term care settings and ensure residents and employees are protected. This includes an emergency order issued by MDHHS Director Robert Gordon regarding transfers and reporting requirements.
