RETURN TO IN-PERSON MEETING:  We hope you consider joining us on for our annual Michigan Emergency Medicine Assembly taking place at the beautiful Grand Hotel on Mackinac Isalnd, Michigan. This year’s agenda will again include valuable updates and information you will find useful to you, your practice and your patients.
 

The Assembly includes a number of traditional sessions covering medical/legal updates, the membership’s Annual Meeting, and leadership forums covering health care issues. Each year, there is a host of special educational programs assembled to provide opportunities for our specialists to increase their knowledge and abilities in several avenues of their emergency medicine practices. To round out the three-day event, MCEP will also offer the traditional MCEP Family Opening Reception, Golf Outing and Presidents’ & Awards Banquet.

Next you will start adding your guests individually and put which events each person specifically is going to as well as if they are a guest/child etc. If you have no guests, select NO GUEST on the next two forms.  Thank you! Before 6/15/22:  MCEP Physician – $550; ACEP Physician – $560; Physician NM – $650; Nurse/PA/EMT – $330; Resident/Student – $50

*Registration fees increase by $25 after 6/15/22

COVID-19 Considerations


MCEP will adhere to all current COVID-19 requirements imposed by the State of Michigan as well as all safety measure protocols in place at the Grand Hotel and their local health department.  In addition, MCEP is actively monitoring COVID-19 in the Mackinac Island area and will follow all guidance regarding large group gatherings.

MEMF Sponsored Scholarship Contest – August 1, 2022

EMRAM Inspired – Rapid Fire Talks:  Have a great talk?  Is there a topic you are passionate about?  the Michigan Emergency Medicine Foundation (MEMF) is pleased to announce 3 resident scholarships in the amount of $1,200 to attend & present a talk at MEMA 2022.

What to send:

  • Current Curriculum Vitae
  • Brief description of the talk (250 words max)
  • 3-minute video clip from the talk (can use smart phone/GoPro, etc. to record)
  • Personal contact information
  • Scholarship requests can be sent via e-mail to madeyv@mcep.org

MCEP is excited to announce the Michigan Emergency Medical Foundation (MEMF) Golf Tournament, scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at The Jewel on Mackinac Island.

We are excited about this golfing event in support of our Michigan Emergency Medicine Foundation (MEMF) – a non-profit (501c3) that serves to support research, scholarship and the strategic goals of MCEP.  Through the foundation, scholarships are awarded to resident physicians toward unique medical growth opportunities.

This event is open to all registrants, exhibitors, family members and friends.  Pre-register to assure your spot!  Only 32 spots available and onsite golf registration is limited.  Please arrive 30 minutes early to prepare for a shotgun start.

During the Michigan Emergency Medicine Assembly, MEDPAC is offering two separate fundraising opportunities where you can join your friends and colleagues for an evening of fun, while partaking in a wine or whiskey tasting event. (Both tastings are offered concurrently.)

Grand Hotel Wine Tasting

This one-hour wine tasting led by Grand Hotel’s Master Sommelier will cover a selection of white and red wine grape varieties with an example of both a domestic and imported wine from the Grand Hotel’s award-winning wine cellar.  Four tastings are included and space is limited to 25 persons.

Grand Hotel is located on Mackinac Island, where automobiles are not permitted.  This National Historic Landmark is truly one of a kind.  The Grand Hotel has always symbolized gracious hospitality and impeccable service.  An obliging staff is sprinkled throughout the public rooms and grounds to render service on a moment’s notice.

Grand Hotel operates on the Modified American Plan.  This means your daily rate INCLUDES a full breakfast and five-course dinner served in the Main Dining Room as well as casual alternative dining options as defined by the hotel.  Casual resort wear is appropriate throughout the day at the Grand Hotel.  IMPORTANT:  IN ACCORDANCE WITH TRADITION, GUESTS MUST WEAR DINNER ATTIRE AFTER 6:00 PM.

2022 Transportation/Travel


By Car

Motor vehicles are prohibited on the Island.  All travel is by carriage, bicycle, horseback or foot.  Major highways lead directly to the Straits of Mackinac where you will find parking at Mackinaw City or St. Ignace before boarding a ferry to the Island.

Ferry Service to Mackinac Island

Passage to Mackinac Island is provided by several ferry boat lines.  Shepler’s Ferry Service (www.sheplersferry.com) is the exclusive ferry line for the Assembly.  Discounted round trip fares are $23/adult and $14/child.  Tickets can be purchased on-line beginning July 1, 2022 using a special on-line code given to our registrants with meeting confirmations.  Luggage transfer is simple and convenient, with assistance provided on both the mainland and on Mackinac Island.  Parking:  Ample parking is available at all mainland ferry docks.  Indoor and valet parking is available for nominal charges.  Taxis:  It’s a short walk from the ferry docks to Grand Hotel.  Horse-drawn taxi service is also available for a nominal fee.  Horse-drawn taxis greet all ferry boats arriving at Mackinac Island.

By Air

Commercial Airlines:  Mackinac Island is served by Pellston (Michigan) airport, 12 miles south of Mackinaw City.  Commercial air service to Pellston is available daily through Delta Airlink in Detroit.

Limousine & Shuttle Service – Mackinaw Shuttle (888) 349-8294

Mackinaw Shuttle is a Pellston, Michigan Airport based companies that offer taxi service between Pellston Airport and the Mackinaw City ferry docks along with other Michigan cities on a 24-hour basis.  This service is also available on a charter basis.  They recommend at least a week or more for reservations.  There is an additional charge for evenings.  Reservations are highly recommended.
